Coronavirus status checker

The Coronavirus status checker went live on the 29 March 2020 and provided vital insight into the prevalence of COVID-19 across the country, along with the types of symptoms people were experiencing. It helped the NHS coordinate its response and build additional data on the COVID-19 outbreak.

The checker supported demand prediction to improve logistics around services.  With the numbers of people with the virus continuing to fall and with testing and subsequent track and trace in place, this service is no longer required.  As a result, the Coronavirus status checker was decommissioned on 18 June 2020.  People trying to access it now will be redirected to the NHS website’s coronavirus advice page.

During the 12 weeks it was operational the checker was accessed 644,000 times.

Anyone who needs urgent help now should use NHS 111 online at 111.nhs.uk or on the NHS App.

The Coronavirus status checker was a unique partnership between NHSX, NHS England and NHS Improvement, NHS Digital and Public Health England.
