Funding opportunities to improve digital pathways

We have provided funding for a number of vanguard projects to champion the adoption and use of digital technology and innovation in care pathways.

The National Teledermatology Investment Programme (NTIP), which operated between March 2021 and March 2022, is part of this focus on innovation. You can learn more about the programme, including the final impact report (external website, registration required) and case studies from the 23 ICSs that took part.

We are also supporting work around the development of Electronic Eyecare Referral and Image Sharing systems (EeRS) and this investment continues into 2022.

Adoption Fund

Following on from the success of the NHSX digital playbooks, we launched an Adoption Fund in 2021 to support innovation that:

  • has some evidence base in the NHS and can support current priorities around elective recovery
  • is Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) compliant, or on its way to being so
  • is not being funded elsewhere by the NHS
  • has potential for rapid, wider roll-out across the NHS
