NHS Transformation Directorate playbook disclaimer
Disclaimer
The case studies have been arranged in the digital playbook(s) to showcase examples of innovative use of digital solutions within health and care settings. They address the issues faced along different care pathways, within the workforce and administration, and in how to open source code for health and care organisations. They are intended to provide supportive relevant information only. The playbook(s) should be treated as a guide to health care professionals and decision makers (“users”) to identify potential digital solutions along relevant pathways as well as productivity improving digital solutions and how to open source code, which could be implemented in their organisation. The information in the case studies does not purport to be comprehensive and the apps and digital tools referred to in the case studies may not have been independently verified or assessed under the NHS Apps Library process. The case studies are not an endorsement of the relevant app or digital tool by NHS England or the Department of Health and Social Care, but a summary of the relevant clinician, organisation and/or patient’s experience with that digital solution. Accordingly, unless otherwise expressly stated, neither NHS England nor the Department of Health and Social Care is a supplier or distributor of any of the apps or digital tools.
Users must exercise their own skill and judgement when determining whether the apps and digital tools mentioned will be suitable for them and/or their organisation, and should follow appropriate procurement and supplier selection processes and relevant clinical guidance.
Unless expressly stated otherwise in a digital tool or app’s terms of use, NHS Digital, NHS England, Department of Health and Social Care, General Practitioners, UK Health Security Agency, The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, Care Quality Commission (including their staff), and any other health professionals undertaking NHS-funded care ("NHS Organisations"), are not the creators, owners, editors, managers or providers of any apps or digital tools (and any information and content contained in them) referred to in the case studies.
While the case studies and playbook(s) have been prepared in good faith, no representation, warranty, assurance or undertaking (express or implied) is or will be made, and no responsibility or liability is or will be accepted by NHS Organisations in relation to the adequacy, accuracy or completeness of the case studies or playbook(s).
NHS Organisations shall have no liability for any damage or loss howsoever caused by a user's use of or reliance on the relevant apps and digital tools. This shall not exclude any liability for, or remedy in respect of, fraudulent misrepresentation.
The organisation named as the developer or supplier of the app or digital tool referenced in the relevant case study is the entity solely responsible for the content, advice, production and maintenance (including all required updates) of the relevant app or digital tool and for ensuring the compliance and fitness for purpose of their apps, digital tools and content. The NHS Organisations are not responsible or liable for any advice, service, or product that is obtained through the use of any app or digital tool referred to in any case study. If there is any concern or issue in relation to the apps and digital tools, then users should contact the named supplier.
The playbooks are not intended to provide medical advice or recommendations. Where apps and digital tools mentioned in case studies can be directly downloaded by patients, patients should not use these as a substitute to seeking medical advice from a qualified medical professional and should only use these where the app or digital tool is complementary to any advice given by that professional. If a patient feels their symptoms are not improving or has concerns about their health, then professional medical advice should be sought. For less urgent health needs, contact your GP or local pharmacist in the usual way. If you have an urgent medical need you should call 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk. If a life is at risk, call 999.
All playbook case studies have either passed, or are currently undergoing the Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) assessment.
